Sun n clouds

More clouds hanging around for the early morning, made some really nice light, its wild how much of a difference it changes the landscape, doesn't cool it though. Again I was hopeful for 40 but pooped out and called it good!

h20 for the soul

I had the idea of checking out the river, turns out it was a great idea, it was absolutely beautiful. I really need to bring swimsuit one of these days and hop in!

Not too bad

Well it's official, 1/2 way through my least favorite month. I find the heat comes full on in June and I have to submit and usually get over it, so that's what I keep trying to do. Decided to get some mine action, I got absolutely smoked by a hard tail rider, nice work! Can't wait for October!

Toasting my buns

Those hotter rides are taking a bit more of a toll, I was cooked after thinking of doing 40 miles, I lost my desire and can't compain about 36!

Happy for some clouds

I was surprised to find some clouds for friday morning, very welcomed, didn't do much but make it pretty but I will take it!

Beat some of the heat

Every year I tell my wife this is my last year here, every year I’m proven wrong 🤦‍♂️ I saw a first today, a woman on SS! And going up alpe 💪

E bike apologists

Click click, dead battery on the VW, 4am successful solo flat ground pop start the Dub. Too much climbing, 2 rattlesnakes, some circus characters, got an apology from some young gun ebikers on my climb, don’t know why but maybe cause it’s a motorcycle 💩 great morning 🤘

OK OK

Gettin a bit grumpy about the heat and living here, I know better, such a lamanite. I still would rather be riding than hiding in the air conditioning I should shut up.

SOMO

I finally marched on over to SOMO for a workout. I now can thu-sat early mornings available which is really really nice to beat the heat! I chugged up mormon and national for some fun. Could use some gear in spots but I mde 32x18 work 99% of the way. The plan was Corona and thats what I did. I can't help remember reading forkandshreds experience where he mangled his leg and got lifted out. I made a clean run and then a smooth ride back. Obviously I hadn't had enough abuse so back up mormon and down national. Rough on my bike and body but I love it! Ofcourse a fricken snake, this one looks different, maybe black, tiger or speckled I dunno. It was very quick to run away, not like those diamondbacks.

Memorial Day

I got a nice bonus ride on Monday since the DR had no work. We didn't do anything too special since it's just us. I miss Memorial of days past, family bbqs, hitting the lake, ball field or something fun. We had some hot dogs and baked some fries. I am very grateful to those who have sacrificed their lives to the USA. While our country is currently in a mess, I do believe it still to be a blessed land and god and justice will prevail. I never got the chance to serve my country in the military but I would proudly. The ride was climby, I hit 5,000 ft, and found another snake. Bring on the ht dogs!

Flagstaff!

Lucky for me we spent our anniversary up in Flagstaff and was able to bring my bike along for at least 1 ride. I have heard such great things about the heart trail so that was the mission and fill in the rest after that. The fastest route to the top of Heart was to climb up the Elden lookout rd. The ride up through the neighborhood before I got to the rd was distracting as I desperately want to move into one of those nice homes! Once I got onto the dirt road things were fine, started gradual and then a steady solid climb, not much to see but the destruction fire left of the mountain. Once I got higher there was some tree regrowth but not nearly as much as I would expect from a fire a few years ago. I had the option to ride the road all the way out but after an hour of that I hopped onto upper sunset. The view was absolutely spectacular! There was nice cloud cover and it was coolish, some signs of green stuff as I rode down hill finally. It was narrow and rocky in spots before as I rode in and out of pine and aspen. I was at the top of heart in not time. Then I got to charge down some nice flowy picturesque trail, I was constantly distracted by the views. The trail was not forested at all so wide open and able to see every bit of trail ahead, quite pretty even without the wildlife. I went in and out of red dirt which was a trip. That descent went on for a good bit of time and as I got lower it got more flowy and entered the pines. I saw what I thought was a Javalina and turns out it was a black bear! He was about 50 ft from me and was just as spooked as I was! I was still crusing real nice around MT Elden on really great trail. Then I began to climb my way back up shultz pass. Legs were doing just fine and I was on coud 9. I knew I still had plenty of time once I got to the pass and decided to try some stuff I haven't got to. I rode Secret which was pretty good, some chunky sections but mostly a cozy pedal in the pines. The onto twisted sister for more of the same. Lower moto was next, nice mellow trail. I hopped onto easter island which was awesome, ran down a ravine real fast. Then the rest was a quick ride to the car. Even after 3.3 hours of riding man I wanted much more! So happy, so lucky!

Dope

We are hedaded out for Flagstaff! I get to bring my bike for a ride too! I ran out before the drive to stretch my legs, ran into a snake as usual but great ride and cannot wait for Flagstaff!

Rode one of my dream bikes

I ran into my trail buddy wh gave me a lift when I punctured my leg. I still don't have his name unfortunately but I see him here and there and we always have a nice chat. Last time I saw him he asked me what bike I would buy, I told him a spot rocker. Well I ran into a singlespeed on a spot rocker and sure enough it was him! He took my advice, he even offered me a ride, I took him up on that, I only went a 1/2 mile but man that was a sweet 1/2 mile. The brakes and fork were butter smooth the bike felt great. Now I can compare it to my fuse I guess, it was kind of a bummer to feel how fast I could go with a front fork. Oh well.

Nice breeze

Its been very windly lately, since we don't get clouds that little bit makes everything a little bit more comfortable. There was a herd of horses out there, tons of manure and hoofs as soon as I started the ride, I was so happy to not have run into them. I was monitoring the hoof direction and location to plan accordingly and never ran into them, success!
