Whewwww hoooooo

Swim team moved to Saturday 8am so I was set for an afternoon ride which was fine by me, shorter but I love this time of the day. I was feeling very strong when I got started, I just felt like it was nothing, so I pushed it pretty good, plenty left to push still but broke 6 or 7 personal records in one swoop, felt good doing it too!

Ahhhhh November

Looks like RMR got even further sanitizing, not wild about it but oh well. I am so so so glad it's Novemeber!

Back to Gold

New pedals and shoes! Went with the specialized 2FO DH shoes, feel very stiff and very sticky, also got some nee race face chesters, not my favorite pedal but cheap and grippy until I figure myself out. It was off to Gold canyon to see how it weathered the monsoons. Turns out it did ok, wild and looser than ever but that's what it good about it. My chain annoyingly kept popping off everywhere, tension was fine but it just kept at it. I tensioned it tight and it didn't come back off but time for some maintenance I supose. The ride went great I did alot more than I thought I could do in 2 hours, very fun and nice change in scenery!

Saved by the spare pedals

Another Saturday at Hawes, early, much cooler and I love it. 30 minutes in my pedal was begining to seize, I was at the bottom of RMR and was worried how to get back to the car since last time it started to seize I got just a mile in before it completely seized. With some prayer I got to the car and swapped out that oneup pedal for my backup chester. I am done with ONEUP pedals, this is the 3rd set to fail on me, they seem to last about 3 months and I keep getting them warrantied but what good is unreliability.

Veterans Day!

Started off early but not crazy early, Used the lights and started off up to pass mountain trail and then down the new Talon trail which was very bland but fine. Then it was off to do soem climbing into the morning.

Happy birthday Marine Corps

A wonderful day, wonderful ride!

Lovely ripper

My son had a swim race in the morning, it required us to wake up at 5:30am so no morning ride for me ofcourse . Most the day passed by and I was scheduled for an afternoon ride, feels so so so good to get out this time of day, the mind and body just feels so much more ready for it.

AZ Cardinal

I rarely see and AZ Cardinal, I am begining to feel like an AZ local, I am not really ok with that in the summer time but this time of year it's nice in the valley, waited 6 months for this and it is here!

Nice nice ncie

SO nice out there! well the heaset doesn't seem to want to tigthen all the way so not so nice on the salsa but I can fix that I think when I take it apart and sort it. Saw soem peoples dressed like it's 30F out, I am still sweating it up but loving it!

Farting around

Saturday morning session, had no commitments in the morning which was nice, still thought it would be nice if I get home at a decent time though. So the plan was some 40 miles and I did just that, was hoping to hit 5k climbing and came up 10 feet short.....DOH

Some classic Friday action, the rotor rub is driving me nuts, I got to true that rotor, not very good at it is the reason why I haven't tried it yet. Really got in a nice rythm on this one, it feels so much better with cooler temperatures, still sweat fest though.

Getting there

Classic Thursday loop on the timberjack, still got to work on it a bit for some rattling and chainline crunching but it likes to rip. It still doesn't pedal near my Fuse so it feels great when I switch but I am definitely grateful for having more than one bike! The sun is still really strong and the desert is green.

Nice nice nice

Nice weather, nice trails nice output. I had a bit of extra time so I got an extra 5 miles in. I ran into a fellow strava friend, Clint, we chatted for a good 10 minutes and it was great to buy a face to the name and have great conversation.

Rampage excitement was distracting my whole ride, got home and enjoyed the show! Wish we could of had 2nd runs but glad to see no one crash!

I have rampage on my mind, it's only a few days away and I get stoked for it everytime. My riding is far from savage, this was a great ride to burn off the meat fest we had at Rodizio the night before for Landon's birthday!!!!!

Habitual Saturday climbing beatdown

Standard Saturday rip, a bit of riding in the dark an sun rise. This morning was great, I noticed some special lighting in the atmospere and low and behold a double rainbow was behind me. I never got muh more than a mist on the ride but cooler and any change from orange fireball and blue skies is welcome!

Can't complain

I was back home, always stings when heading back to the desert. My legs were good to go for Friday and was annoyed I didn't have them the day before, but back rolling and ready for my sons birthday and halloween!

Birthday Flagstaff

Well my birthday waw coming up October 13th and I sure had an idea of riding my bike for the day. I planned a route after seeing a few people riding a big loop that included a ton of trails I have not ridden and wanted to. The loop was 50 miles and when I got the green light I was off to Flagstaff! I parked in the familiar area at the base of Schultz trail, man that place is looking different every time I go. The begining of the loop was a series of paths an lots of connections before I would get onto the primo trails. Even along the paths I was thriled, the ride started off laced with trees and neighborhods, the leaves were changing on the cottonwoods, maples and oaks, it made me really happy! After a few rough connections I was finally entering the AZT section of walnut canyon. It was a few rough sections and then some very smooth flowy track in the pines for a long time, the pedaling was easy too, I did notice that my legs were a bit off, not a good day for that but there was multiple bail sections if neeeded. Once that beautiful walnut canyon are was done it was quite a few lvestock gates and in and out of meadows and pines, still not much climbing. After passing under 89 and getting asked if I wanted to buy a laptop...... I sat down for a snack break. By now I was not feeling my best, I knew I had stellar trails ahead but climbing. I think I need to strategize different foods to bring. So I began to climb up the AZT some more, it was rough, it should not have been on any other day but it was today. I reached a section I have ridden before and man I love that stuff! It felt like forever but I reached the bottom of little bear. Knowing what was ahead I already knew I was in trouble, I rode up anyway. The scene was stellar!!!!!!!!!!! leags tired. I walked more than I care to admit but still made decent time to the top. Then it was on the upper brookbank, I thought I have rode it before and turns out I have, this section has been redone and the upper section was pretty raw and by now so was I...... The last section was riding through dry lakes to connect to the new big bang trail. By now I wa praying for a fast downhill ride to the car but when I did find it, which was improperly mapped entrance I was again walking a few sections I would be climbing with ease any other day. Then it finally was going downhill, this Big Bang trail was AWESOME! There was some uphill traffic and despite seeing two riders all day this is where I encountered 5-6 more people. The trails was rough on my 50 mile worn neck and palms but I was descending fast, the trail was smooth and rough on and off. When it came to a close it felt aazing to have reached the car. It as later than hoped but I was so so so happy and absolutely loved this ride! I got home fore some cake and rest and the day was done.
