Charcoal Ride

I headed up to Pine once I found out the trailhead and trails were open. I was very curious to see what the fire had done. As I pedaled in it was thick with smell of charcoal, the trail appeared normal despite some machinery tracks, as I gota few minutes in the burn scars began, I even los the trail in my headlamp for a second, then it was all gravy. I was happy to see that vegetation was spared. As I got a few miles in, the burn scars were here adn there, until around mile 5 there was a heavy burned area, sad to see for sure. That lasted about a mile and was a very eerie feeling being in such a heavily burned zone. From there it was intermittant again. Not much sign of spring around thats for sure. Once I got to Sycarmore creek the burns were gone. I am really grateful for this years rides spent in Pine, it's such a beautiful place. I made it to Washington Park and had tons of steam left but not time. Nice ride home on the forest road and that was that!
